One-Day Workshops
One Day Workshop projects involve an art lesson for the hour or two. We are flexible on scheduling, so call us on any project that interests you, we can try to schedule a time that works best (regardless of listed date and time). It's a great way to try a new process (such as a mosaic), develop skills (like drawing or painting), or create a hand made gift (how about a one of kind piece you build out of clay?). If you're looking for hands-on, creative time One Day Workshops are a great option. Any One-Day Workshop can be applied to a group event. By all means, CALL FOR DETAILS!!!





We prefer to schedule workshops on Fri or Sat, or daytime during the week.

Please call for scheduling a time that works best for all of us.

PYOP of the week

Every Friday and Saturday during November we will be selecting one of our pyop pieces that will be the pyop of the week. If you choose it then we will give you $2 off your piece or a coupon for $10 off one of our classes. Good while supplies last.

Stretch your dollar shelf!

We all know that the economy is making it more and more difficult to get out and do something fun. We realize that not everyone wants to pay 20+ dollars to glaze a piece of pottery. So we've introduced our stretch your dollar shelf. For $10, choose from frames, mugs, boxes, keychains and more to paint with acrylic paints and take home THAT DAY! This is perfect for the 5 and younger crowd or for teenagers who want to make a gift for someone but spent their allowence on candy. The best part is that you get to also design the bag you take it home in!

Vintage PYOP Pieces

Mermaid Art Studios is adding vintage, one-of-a-kind pyop pieces to our arsenal of raw ceramic ware. These pieces are rare and cannot be found in other pyop stores! We've spent years collecting these extrordinary pieces and are making them available to the pyop enthusiast. We have a huge variety, including ones for the holidays! This is a two day workshop. We supply a baseball size bag of clay. Built something and we'll fire it for you. Come back in and glaze it and we'll fire it a second time!

Really want to make something but spent your allowence? Come in and choose from our locker of treasures to find just what's right for you! This is a great idea for children who want to make a present for someone but is on a budget.
 


Paint Your Own Pottery
Plenty of pieces to chose from; unique kids pieces, functional to figurative, and even a collection of 1940's vintage ceramics, ready for you to glaze.

Glaze is the name for the paint used on kiln-fired ceramic pieces. You come in to paint (using glaze), we'll fire it, your piece should be ready in about a week, we'll give you a call when it's done.

We are here to help you! Would you like some assistance with drawing, painting or brainstorming your piece? As artists, we have no problem in helping you to carry out your design.

Glazed and fired ceramic pieces are food safe, dishwasher safe, and microwavable. If you'd like to take your piece home on that same day, you can use acrylic paints or ceramic stains. Just remember, this method is NOT food safe. So, choose something you won't be eating or drinking from.

Come in anytime during business hours. Get a group of friends together for a creative evening! For groups of 10 or more, we'll keep the studio open! Check out the parties and group events.


Other Quickie Projects
Looking for a quick little project? Need something else to do while mom or dad finish their pottery piece? Or maybe you want to make something for a group of friends?

  • Make a button! Color your own design, use an existing design, or even insert a picture. A great little keepsake for a family reunion or for a club/group organization.
  • Make a card! We have plenty of materials and will even help you out on ideas for a most unique handmade card. Goes along perfectly with the gift you've just made here at the studio.
  • Quickie projects! If you've only got a short amount of time, but would like to exercise some creativity, a quickie project is just what you need. It's a way to give a small gift, a reward, or just to have a very productive half hour.
